Buzport offers two main options in international calling. Firstly, customers can use a great quality VOIP (voice-over-internet-protocol) service on their mobile phones or PC’s to make high-quality calls whilst still saving money. When wifi, 3G or GPRS aren’t available however (or when customers wish to use a landline to make a call), they can also access Buzport savings by using the ‘callback’ service. This way, customers call Buzport and dial the number they wish to call, receiving a call back that connects them to the number in a matter of minutes. To make things even more straightforward, there’s also an app for iPhone, Android, Blackberry and more that automatically detects the cheapest and easiest way to make the call.

In terms of cost, Buzport does come out as a little more expensive than other services we have considered in this category. Although call rates to many countries are at one or two cents per minute, many are a good deal higher than this. One example is a call to Nigeria, which would cost a user 21 cents or more per minute using Buzport, but around half that at many of the other services we have reviewed in this category (including our No.1 rated service, Rebtel, among others). As such, if there is a particular country you call a lot, it’s probably worth double checking that Buzport offers a real discount compared with other services in the industry, so as to ensure you’re getting the best deal possible.

Buzport is a good service that combines the best of high-quality VOIP and easy-to-use “callback” services to ensure that customers always have access to low-cost calling no matter where they are. Although we would suggest our readers check that the tariff on offer here is broadly in line with other services before signing up, Buzport remains a good choice if you’re looking for an easy-to-use service that doesn’t require too many changes to your existing set up.
